I'm writing in this forum because I'm almost at my wit's end about this. I have a 1997 Olds Achieva SL 2.4L (VIN T), with about 115,000 miles on it. A couple of years ago, the engine mounts and transmission mount failed and were replaced. Ever since then, the front end has had problems. The right front clunks a lot, and the noise can be heard even at highway speeds. The struts and strut mounts have been replaced three times in the last couple of years, with no success. At one point, the right strut had a bent strut rod. The ball joint and lower control arm bushings are fine. The steering and alignment are still OK, and except for the clunking, the only other problem is that it doesn't seem to ride as smoothly as it once did. I'm wondering if something in the front end got bent when the motor mounts failed, and that's what's clunking. Has anybody else had a similar problem with their Achieva? If so, did you get it fixed, and what did it take? I'm not willing to spend any more money on this thing, unless there's a safety issue involved. Thanks in advance for your help.
